Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games in London
Starring:
James Keegan, Morgan Comer
Lord of the Dance – Dangerous Games world première
Riverdance was a cultural phenomenon, wowing audiences at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest. In 1996 The Lord of the Dance became an even bigger phenomenon. Now the multi award-winning, multi record-breaking choreographer, known affectionately as the Lord of the Dance himself, returns to London's glittering theatreland for the last time with a show that's more spectacular than ever. Wow!
You can expect spellbinding stuff as the dancers weave a fascinating good versus evil tale inspired by traditional Irish folklore. The second the lights dim you'll be transported to another time and place. A fiery blend of precision dancing, so skilful you'll be left breathless, state of the art lighting and thrilling pyrotechnics makes this a brand new classic in the art of stage storytelling.
Michael Flatley has painstakingly put together a crack team of forty brilliant young performers for the show. There's brand new music courtesy of the composer Gerard Fahy, fresh staging, new costumes and fantastic new choreography, too.
Dangerous Games runs until September 2015, a performance that's rich in the great man's distinctive brand of contemporary and traditional Irish dance. It's due to be his final West End appearance and the young lords of the dance he has chosen to play the part in his place are super-seriously talented, not to be missed.
It's perfect for people aged five or over and anyone who adores the sheer, raw emotional power of dance.
Lord of the Dance - The story
The Lord of the dance needs to protect his people against Don Dorcha, the Dark Lord. It's a dangerous task for The Little Spirit, who travels through time to help the Lord keep his people safe. As the dark power challenges our hero, this epic traditional Irish folk tale draws you into a compelling, unforgettable and truly spellbinding mythical universe.

The dancing was superb but overall the show was disappointing. No live music (even the on-stage instruments were mimed - very poorly). No real plot as far as I could tell and the whole show felt very disjointed. The costumes were far too revealing with no real reason to be. A shame as I was really looking forward to it.

If it was not for Flattery writing it it would never made it to theatre, The dancers were excellent the rest was very poor, would not recommend it.Too much of the screen at the background you could have gone to the cinema.

Having not seen any of The Lord of The Dance shows previously, I found the storyline quite difficult to follow (seeing as there was not really any dialogue at all). However the quality of dancing, singing, and instruments was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed the show.

The elements which were the traditional Irish folklore were amazing - exactly what you can expect from Lord of the Dance - synced, impressive, extremely fast, mastery! However, the rest was kitsch! The story line, costumes and music which were trying to build a futuristic war plot seemed like they might be from 1990s and not made for a contemporary audience. The animations on the screen behind were also cheap and low quality (also as if they were from the 90s). The non-Irish dances (eg seductive hip dance of the villain female character) were awkward to say the least, and completely out of sync - which is surprising given that during the tap dancing the dancers were amazing. It was also somewhat disappointing to see no diversity among actors (all white) and a stereotypical representation of good and bad (blonds are good, brunettes are evil). All in all the choreographer/ director / dancers should stick to what they know best (traditional elements) and forget any awkward innovations. People come to see Lord of the Dance for the Irish tap dance not for cumbersome urban movements.

As usual an exceptional performance from the dancers. The new Lord of the Dance nailed it and was incredible. The bad guy in the goth outfit was also amazing. The girls as usual were fantastic....but we were a bit bemused by the shoddy megadrive graphics in the background. Really distracting and didnt add anything to the show. Lose the graphics, add more dancers.

Birthday treat for my husband, who always wanted to see the original Riverdance. After this performance I really wish we had made a greater effort to see them. Our 21 year old daughter was with us and thought it was also wonderful!

The luck of the Irish certainly isn't needed when you a talented cast like this. You can't help but be captivated into this rhythm bonanza. Finding yourself tapping those feet in a poor attempt to replicate the amazing talent on display. Combine this with a jaw dropping production incredible vocal performances - and you really are onto a winner. The only negative I can find is the story can be a bit lapsy daisy, but hey its about the dancing. If you are a fan of Irish dancing, culture then this is certainly for you. If not, then you can do no harm in trying something a bit different.

Fact, the show including intermission was over in two hours, which I can understand because the dancing must have been energy sapping, so if you appreciate Irish dancing then this show is for you (Flatley not missed). The Dominion rightly boasts a major refit where the large backdrop electronic screen was impressive, but I still can not decide whether it aided or distracted from the show. My companion, of Irish decent, was ecstatic, where I, English traditionalist (?) definitely enjoyed the show in that it was far better than I expected, but I would rate most of the other London musicals as superior.

My daughter Aine and I went to this amazing show.. Aine is 15 and does Irish Dancing so this was extra special for her to see an Irish Dancing show. The routine of the dancing was very impressive and the timing impeccable. The music worked so well and we especially enjoyed the two ladies on the Irish Fiddles. We thoroughly enjoyed this show as it was extremely lively and the music, dance steps and atmosphere really added to the performance. The only issue I had were 5 ladies who arrived late, sat in front of us and talked throughout much of the show !! Other than that we really enjoyed our evening.
