Peter And Alice Tickets

Part of the long-awaited Michael Grandage Company season at the Noel Coward Theatre, you’ll love the curious tale of a real-life 1932 encounter between Alice Liddell Hargreaves, who inspired Lewis Carroll to create Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Llewelyn Davies who inspired J.M Barrie’s classic Peter Pan.

Starring: Judi Dench, Ben Whishaw

Tickets from £35.00

Peter And Alice Description

Alice, meet Peter. Peter, meet Alice…

Prepare for a world premiere! John Logan's fantastic new play creates an enchanting imaginary encounter, based loosely on fact, between the real-life people who inspired the lead characters in two of the greatest British authors’ masterpieces, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland.

It’s only a brief encounter, but it lays bare the lives of these two extraordinary characters, played by Dame Judi Dench and Ben Whishaw. This is John Logan’s first new play since his enormously popular Red, which won a remarkable six Tony awards in 2010, and it’s well worth the wait.

Peter And Alice - The story

Alice Liddell Hargreaves really did meet Peter Llewelyn Davies. The legendary meeting took place at the private view of an exhibition by Lewis Carroll in 1932, and the play is a fictional account of their one brief but intense meeting.

As the play’s director Michael Grandage explained to the Daily Mail, “You have the real life figures of Alice and Peter who met each other briefly for about 40 minutes. John Logan imagined what they said to each other and that's the basis of the play."

A dark and mature drama

By all accounts it’s a dark and mature drama, and it poses important questions about the way ordinary people deal with being extraordinary as they’re suddenly open to public scrutiny, made famous at a very young age.

With set and costume design by Christopher Oram and music and sound design by Adam Cork, you can expect a theatrical tour de force that’s as unusual as it is charming.

An Imaginative and Engaging Piece of Theatre

Raw and truthful writing that explores interesting themes such as the impacts of fiction, childhood memories, and the disillusionment of growing old. This was beautifully acted and directed. Well worth seeing!
