Rock of Ages Description

Rock your socks off to 1980s classics with Rock of Ages

Big bands. Big hair. Big tunes. It’s an evening of purest high drama set in the 1980s when taste was downright bad and shoulder pads ruled the world. Welcome to a fantastically popular West End show that blends sheer entertainment with karaoke classics and cheeky comedy, a laugh a minute and perfect for singing along!

Rock of Ages – The story

It’s 1987. The scene is Hollywood’s famous Sunset Strip, where amateur rock star wannabe and big hair fanatic Drew and struggling actress Sherrie are on the brink of a love affair. But things are about to become… rocky! They both work at the Bourbon Room, which is about to be demolished. But the owner, Dennis Dupree, soon hatches a cunning plan to resurrect the venue’s fortunes with the help of rock star Stacee Jaxx. Will Drew and Sherrie ever admit their love? Can the venue be saved? Do rock dreams ever really come true?

A rollercoaster of a rock-based show!

This is a musical with a real heart and you’ll be singing in the aisles well before the first curtain goes up. It’s packed solid with rock hits including Don’t Stop Believin’, We Built This City (on rock ‘n’ roll) and monster hit The Final Countdown.

If you remember the rock hits of the 1980s you’ll adore the nostalgia. If you’re new to ‘80s rock it’s an experience you’ll never forget, with its self deprecating humour and wonderful silliness. Better still, this show is all about audience participation. So dig out your 1980s glam or hit your nearest vintage clothing outlet for the time of your rockin’ life!

Rock of Ages song list

Act one sees the audience ricking along to Just Like Paradise/Nothin' but a Good Time, Sister Christian, Too Much Time on My Hands/We Built This City, I Wanna Rock, We're Not Gonna Take It and Heaven/More Than Words/To Be with You. You’ll have your air guitar at the ready for classics like Waiting for a Girl Like You, Wanted Dead or Alive, I Want to Know What Love Is, Cum On Feel the Noize, Harden My Heart/Shadows of the Night and Here I Go Again. And act two includes twelve more monster chart topping rock tunes from the decade that time never forgot!

Rock of Ages was amazing!

If you loved the rock music of late 80's this is definitely the show for you. I thought it was amazing we laughed most of the way through and the music was the best. It's not a show for the whole family as there are a few sexy scenes.

Rock On!

"Rock of Ages" is an excellent tribute to the music of the 80s, with all the best songs from the era. The narrator slightly improvs from time to time, giving the show a fresh feeling, with sometimes even the other actors not certain what he might do next. Hecklers beware, the narrator is prepared for you and will turn your comments into pure entertainment for others. Rock of Ages is a great evening out, and a must-see for any child of the 80s.

Scott

Show great. Seats not recommended.

Our seats (Grand Circle Row D 0, 1 and 2) had restricted view-wouldn't sit there again as felt couldn't see a third of the show.

Turn Back The Pages for Rock Of Ages

For a raunchy rock n roll celebration of all things hair metal, you can't go far wrong with ROCK OF AGES. With tongues firmly placed in cheeks and other things safely secured within the tightest spandex since 1985, you are in for a treat!!!! Whilst the story line is a little trite it is played out against a backdrop of heavy hitting 80's Rock Anthems and even a few classic but more obscure ones (Sister Christian-NIGHTRANGER anyone!!!) Love it!!! So, grab a beer, grab the person sitting next to you and bouff up that bouffant as we step back in time for nearly two hours of glam-metal, from a bygone era when Girls were Girls and Boys were........errr Girls too!!!! Sometimes it's just like LIVING IN PARADISE!!!

Nigel

Rock of Ages Rocked

Whilst the story line was at best average and very easy to follow the music and the fun the cast generated was outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and would recommend it anyone who enjoys good music. Nostalgic too for those who experience this era first time around. Some of the content was very close to the knuckle but done in good humor and represented the common language of the time. Superb. Well done to all who took part and produced this highly entertaining show.

Michael

fantabulous
