Scrooge in London

Starring:

Tommy Steele

Enjoy the all-time classic tale of Ebeneezer Scrooge

The West End’s favourite Christmas show hits the stage again, with the story of a wealthy but unhappy and highly unpopular Victorian businessman whose spooky Christmas Eve experiences change his life forever.

Based on the 1970 film and featuring Leslie Bricusse’s marvellous Oscar nominated song Thank You Very Much, this musical extravaganza is a heart-warming tale with potential tragedy at its heart, averted just in time. Join Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit and family (including delicate, poorly Tiny Tim) and the famously scary ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future in this wonderful award-winning, international smash hit.

With stunning sets and superb period costumes plus amazing optical illusions created especially for the show by the magician Paul Kieve, who designed the effects in the Harry Potter movies, it’s a real visual feast that propels you back in time to Dickens’ day. The musical score includes smash hit tunes December The Twenty-fifth, I Hate Christmas, the Oscar-nominated hit Thank You Very Much and more.

Scrooge – The story

Ebeneezer Scrooge is a miser. He hoards his money, is cruel to his staff, dislikes children and can’t find any sympathy for the disadvantaged. His employee Bob Cratchit and family are as poor as church mice, and Scrooge forces Bob to work long hours for next to nothing. Tim, Bob’s youngest son, is fragile and delicate, on death’s door. Despite their troubles the Cratchit family are generous-hearted and kind, a fact Scrooge eventually comes to appreciate and value as his miserable life is highlighted horribly by three ghostly presences who show him the error of his ways.

Everyone loves a happy ending and this is one of the best in the West End, perfect for every age and taste and a great way to kick off the festive season.

Christmas spirit, anyone?

This Christmas Scrooge returns to the London Palladium Theatre, having made its original premiere there in 2005. Perfect if you fancy a timeless dose of Christmas spirit!

Magical

My favourite Christmas Story came alive in a magical way. Excellent acting from all, but Tommy Steele was fantastic. He still has an excellent, strong voice, sheer bliss to watch his performance. Everything about the show was pure magic.
