A great evening out! Brilliant production and a special mention to Orlando who played William Shakespeare - he is a true talent!

Having watched the film many times, I wasn't sure the play could do the story justice but it was absolutely brilliant. The staging was so clever - the cast excellent - a wonderful theatrical experience and one I would wholeheartedly recommend.

Bringing such a well loved and well known film to the stage is always going to be difficult, but this is achieved with a high level of performance and clever design. At times the fight scenes lack an element of focus for an audience and 'Romeo's' death - although supposed to be in 'the play' - just didn't seem to work. It was too 'melodramatic' in contrast to the rest of the 'play'. But there were some very clever moments and well acted scenes. My 14 year old son left with a huge smile on his face and a comment of 'I enjoyed that far more than I thought I would.' A really entertaining evening and well worth the trip to the theatre - Thank you to producers, designers and performers!

there was some scenes I could not hear what the actor was saying. there for I missed some of the story.

GREAT EXPERIENCE

I was unsure how the play would match up to the film which I really enjoyed. I would have to say that I enjoyed the play much more, it is funny but also very moving. Well worth going to see - a nice feel good play.

A great show, well worth the money. A perfect mixture of comedy, drama and romance.

This show is utterly fantastic! I went in with low expectations, honestly, and I came out having found my new favorite play. Everything was spot on in this production. It really is a must see!

With the minor exception of young children, this show is brilliant for all. Great fun, great storyline. So glad we booked the tickets as we nearly didn't make the time.

Such a romantic story

A great plot, brilliantly written with wit,intelligence and emotion, music that really enhances the experience and a exuberant cast - what's not to like. Couple that with a great set, imaginatively exploited and a seamless mix of original Shakespeare text and plot lines and you have a perfect way to spend your time and money.

An enjoyable evening with excellent music and musicians who set the Elizabethan scene for the audience

There was no music in it, which is why I rated as 'very poor' - should be an n/a option!

Brilliant

Perhaps one of my favorite shows I have ever seen on the West End. I was spectacular in every way. Don't leave Britian without seeing this play!

Excellent show with really good actors, music was totally in keeping with the play and beautifully performed. I would recommend it to anyone.

The acting was bad. It was also a misstake to produce it as a farce, rather than a comedy. The behavior of other members of the audience in the gallery, was also bad (leaning forward). Veiwing was also restricted in many ways. Not really mentioned at rthe time of ticket pyrchase.

A great evening of laughter, fun and tears - I would recommend the show to everyone.

What do I compare thee to .....like a riot on stage....sometimes the act was so real I easily forgot it was a play....absolutely loved the bit by apothecary ....n John Webster... :) well played Juliet n her Romeo n the musicians with the choir.....as they say, the illusion of life acted out on stage is quite remarkable!

I went with my partner and parents to this show and really enjoyed it. The acting is wonderful, the set clever and story line quite engaging.

I don't recall ever doing a review for any other show .i loved every moment .it was clever funny and sad all at once .the cast were superb.i will see it again .i took guests who rarely get to see theatre .they were simply bowled over

The only comment I would give apart from the show being excellent is that the theatre is a bit cramped and you have to choose your seats carefully. The show would be better placed in something like the Barbican Theatre or one of the bigger stages.

A great night out. The show was fast moving with excellent acting and brilliant moments of comedy. The authentic music of the time was a fabulous touch which transported you to 'the moment'.

Come out of the Theatre with a smile from ear to ear. Fabulous cast without exception. The music was a perfect compliment and the dancing made me want to learn the steps. You really must go.

A really great fun, rollicking night out. The original story of the film has been adhered to without being slavish, and the enhanced friendship between Will and Marlowe is a touching addition which makes the sad moments in the play extremely affecting. Some of the acting is rather hammy- but, let's be honest, this is that kind of a show given the wonderful OTTness of the film! The new music by Paddy Cudden is really beautiful and adds sincerity to the piece. Props to the guys playing the natural trumpets- they are a pain to play cold! Performances to watch out for are David Oakes' cool and charming Marlowe (I lost my heart to him rather than to Tom Bateman's Will), and Anna Carteret, whose knowing Queen Elizabeth gives Dame Judi a run for her money. Enjoy!

A bit slow to start, but we became increasingly engaged as the show went on. The two leading actors were particularly compelling. I also liked how the music was woven into the show, my only complaint being that the counter-tenor was over-miked, throwing the music out of balance. Why didn't the sound technician catch this and correct it?
