Full casting has been announced for the West End premiere of Starkid's THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS, opening at the Apollo Theatre this May.

About StarKid

American musical theatre company StarKid, originally founded at the University of Michigan, is best known for its hit parody of Harry Potter, A Very Potter Musical, which went viral in 2009. The company previously appeared in the UK at The London Palladium with It’s StarKid Innit in 2024 and I Can’t Believe It’s Been a Little Less Than a Year in 2025.

About The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals

First seen online in 2018, this horror-comedy show tells the story of Paul Matthews, an average guy who just doesn't like musicals. But Paul's life is turned upside down when aliens invade his small town of Hatchetfield and turn it into a fully staged musical, absorbing the townsfolk into a hive mind that forces them to sing and dance. Loosely inspired by Invasion of the Body Snatchers, this musical combines science-fiction horror with black comedy and a joyful, irreverent parody of the musical theatre genre.

After being funded through Kickstarter, The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals premiered in LA in 2018, with a recording being uploaded to YouTube the same year, which accumulated more than 9.4 million views.

The cast

The musical will star Jon Matteson as Paul Matthews, Joey Richter as Ted Spankoffski, Jeff Blim as Sam Sweetly, Jaime Lyn Beatty as Charlotte Sweetly, Mariah Rose Faith Casillas as Melissa / Zoe / Alice, Corey Dorris as Bill Woodward, Lauren Lopez as Emma Perkins, and Iván Fernández González as Professor Hidgens.
