Enjoy Les Miserables, a moving tale of revolution

An astonishing fifty five million people have enjoyed Tony and Olivier Award winning Les Miserables so far, so you’ll be in good company. The show was named the nation’s favourite musical in a BBC poll, it’s one of the West End’s longest-running musicals and it has been thrilling audiences for a quarter of a century. That’s what we call popular!

If you’re new to Les Mis, as it’s affectionately called by fans, don’t be put off by the title. It’s dramatic and tense but there’s plenty of comic relief. Based on the popular Victor Hugo book, Les Miserables features music by Claude-Michel Schonberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, original text by Alain Boublil and extra material by James Fenton. Telling an epic story set against the dramatic backdrop of a country experiencing a bloody revolution, this superb adaptation thrills audiences and fills the theatre to bursting point every night.

Les Miserables - The story

Les Miserables weaves a dramatic, edge-of-your-seat tale of revolution and romance and has been entertaining audiences since its opening in Paris more than three decades ago. It tells the moving story of the rebellious but reformed character, Jean Valjean, a man who is tormented by a relentless police officer called Javert in 19th century Paris as the French revolution rages all around. It’s heart-breaking stuff, with romantic interest provided by the student Marius who falls deeply in love with Cosette. As Javert becomes ever more of a threat to the rebels, confrontations are inevitable. But love eventually triumphs despite everything...

‘The musical to end all musicals’

A surprising number of songs from Les Miserables have become hits in their own right, independent of the musical, and you’ll adore the show’s endless stream of beautiful ballads and moving anthems. The song Bring Him Home is a popular choice for funerals worldwide and songbird Susan Boyle has covered the tune I Dreamed a Dream to perfection. Empty Chairs at Empty Tables is absolutely heart-breaking, On My Own is guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes and Do You Hear the People Sing? is genuinely rousing and exhilarating stuff. Often labelled ‘The musical to end all musicals’, Les Miserables tickets are hot property and the production shows no signs of flagging in popularity as the decades roll by.

Great rendition of an all time classic

London Box Office customer

A must see production for everybody

Good story line by Victor Hugo, good music by Schönberg, a must see production even though a movie adaptation is there, but you know that the singing part of the movie cannot be compared with the stage version, just like a reviewer has put it rightly that: if you want to get the original movie sound track of Les Misérables, then you should think twice! All in all, it is my all time favourite musical.

Great night out

Really loved the show but made the mistake of not reading the story before going to the show. While we could appreciate the overall presentation, we could have appreciated the story line better if we had prepared.

The show was amazing. People walking in with drinks after it started and after the interval was annoying. Theatre should stop service in the bar earlier to prevent this happening. Spoils show for everyone.

Great musical

London Box Office customer

Rollercoaster of emotions

Have been looking forward to seeing this show for a long time so seeing as we were visiting London we got some last minute tickets. We were sitting as high up and as far back as you could get, although this affected some parts of the show it never detracted from the performance. The music and acting was wonderful, the story takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride which you never want to end. I think watching the film prior to seeing the show helps you understand the story a bit better as it goes into more depth than the show. Definitely want to watch it again but this time from the stalls.

London Box Office customer

For for that reverberating experience in musical theatre this is the show

If nothing else this is the show that you must see and remember London's West End.

London Box Office customer

An epic story with great songs an stand out performances.

London Box Office customer

Fantastic! Not to be missed

I had goose bumps almost the whole way through the show. Amazing voices, amazing music, amazing set, just spectacular! 10 out of 10 and I would go again in a heartbeat!

London Box Office customer

Sad but impressive!

London Box Office customer

Excellent

Great singing best show we have seen.

London Box Office customer

Memorable for good and bad aspects

Our evening would have been more enjoyable if we had felt less cramped in our seats and a little nearer to the stage. Also the Queens Theatre does not appear to have lifts to the Upper Circle so a definite "No-no" for those disabled or with mobility problems.

London Box Office customer

Best performance of this show ever

I've seen Les Mis a few times now but this is exceptional!

London Box Office customer

Don't miss it

Fantastic but recommend some people might need to read programme first to understand all of it completely

London Box Office customer

Exceptional performance!

This performance of Les Miserable left me speechless, tears-eyed, and in awe!

London Box Office customer

Gripping and wonderful

I have seen Les Mis once before many years ago and was worried it wouldnt be as good as I remembered but I needn't have worried. The sets and scenary were fantastic, Jean Val Jean was amazing and I loved Gavroche. I also thought the slow motion acting was just brilliant...so clever. My only advice for other visitors is to remember to take tissues!!!

London Box Office customer

A must see

Les Miserables has a great story line and together with a professional team of actors and singers make this show a must see. Love it.

London Box Office customer

Great show. Must see !!

London Box Office customer

Amazing!!!

Unbelievable production! Words can't say enough about this show you have to see it to know how good it is. I will definitely be seeing it again

London Box Office customer

A little too long

The first half was exciting and held our attention throughout, but parts of the last act seemed over long and patchy in quality. This seems to be a flaw in the structure of the stage work, but was exacerbated by some shortcomings in the acting, particularly the Cozette on the night we were there. Sadly her stage presence was not of the same quality as the rest of the cast.

London Box Office customer

a life experience

loved the powerful voices, the actors sang their hearts out if felt. the barricade leader has such a distinctive rich powerful voice. adult Gozette's voice was sometimes sharp when singing very fast but otherwise great. The voice personalities were intriguing. overall wonderful. .
