Enjoy Les Miserables, a moving tale of revolution

An astonishing fifty five million people have enjoyed Tony and Olivier Award winning Les Miserables so far, so you’ll be in good company. The show was named the nation’s favourite musical in a BBC poll, it’s one of the West End’s longest-running musicals and it has been thrilling audiences for a quarter of a century. That’s what we call popular!

If you’re new to Les Mis, as it’s affectionately called by fans, don’t be put off by the title. It’s dramatic and tense but there’s plenty of comic relief. Based on the popular Victor Hugo book, Les Miserables features music by Claude-Michel Schonberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, original text by Alain Boublil and extra material by James Fenton. Telling an epic story set against the dramatic backdrop of a country experiencing a bloody revolution, this superb adaptation thrills audiences and fills the theatre to bursting point every night.

Les Miserables - The story

Les Miserables weaves a dramatic, edge-of-your-seat tale of revolution and romance and has been entertaining audiences since its opening in Paris more than three decades ago. It tells the moving story of the rebellious but reformed character, Jean Valjean, a man who is tormented by a relentless police officer called Javert in 19th century Paris as the French revolution rages all around. It’s heart-breaking stuff, with romantic interest provided by the student Marius who falls deeply in love with Cosette. As Javert becomes ever more of a threat to the rebels, confrontations are inevitable. But love eventually triumphs despite everything...

‘The musical to end all musicals’

A surprising number of songs from Les Miserables have become hits in their own right, independent of the musical, and you’ll adore the show’s endless stream of beautiful ballads and moving anthems. The song Bring Him Home is a popular choice for funerals worldwide and songbird Susan Boyle has covered the tune I Dreamed a Dream to perfection. Empty Chairs at Empty Tables is absolutely heart-breaking, On My Own is guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes and Do You Hear the People Sing? is genuinely rousing and exhilarating stuff. Often labelled ‘The musical to end all musicals’, Les Miserables tickets are hot property and the production shows no signs of flagging in popularity as the decades roll by.

Lovely Act, cold theatre!

The show was amazing, the actors were really good, just be certain you get a coat with you as it can be freezing in the hall during winter.

London Box Office customer

mind blowing

This is the second time I have seen this show as my last seats were a bit restricted higher up and I had to lean over other peoples heads! So this time we had front stalls row C The show was amazing I took my daughter age 21 she loved it to and she is a harsh critic as works in another London Theatre she was impressed with the leg room offered with seats the view we had was fantastic and definitely worth the extra money. The show made us laugh and cry the cast were all amazing even though some were stand ins it may no difference to our enjoyment!!! Well worth seeing this show again and again!!!

Our Favorite Musical

We have watched this musical many times and we always come back for its music and acting.

London Box Office customer

The sound of the singers is little low compared to the music.

London Box Office customer

A saga of historical and periodic events, that captures the hearts of all those striving for a better life for themselves, and most importantly their children. A true testimony to the spirit of human goodness!

I Love history, and I relate to the stories of human suffering and tragedy in that designated time period as it occurs through no fault or failings of personal circumstance, Just as Mother Nature bestows horrible suffering in the wake of catastrophic hurricanes and many other weather events; I am inspired by stories of the human spirit overcoming incredible odds. It is gratifying to be able to trust in human good.

Moved me tears

London Box Office customer

As good as the film

I was worried that loving the film the show wouldn't compare but it was brilliant. we set on row AA the front of upper circle which was good but had to lean forward to be able to see anything. Not sure how much those behind would see.

London Box Office customer

Goosebumps throughout hehe

the performances were outstanding throughout. Empty chairs at empty tables made me cry. When the show ended and they all took there bow it was emotional and I cried again. The only thing I found annoying was the two ladies Sat next to me and my daughter who talked through most of it

London Box Office customer

Great rendition of an all time classic

London Box Office customer

A must see production for everybody

Good story line by Victor Hugo, good music by Schönberg, a must see production even though a movie adaptation is there, but you know that the singing part of the movie cannot be compared with the stage version, just like a reviewer has put it rightly that: if you want to get the original movie sound track of Les Misérables, then you should think twice! All in all, it is my all time favourite musical.

London Box Office customer

Great night out

Really loved the show but made the mistake of not reading the story before going to the show. While we could appreciate the overall presentation, we could have appreciated the story line better if we had prepared.
