Allegra will open at the Theatre Royal Brighton as part of a UK tour, with a run at the Richmond Theatre in London included and plans that it will head to the West End in the future.

Directed and choreographed by Stephen Mear, who has an extensive career, including Mary Poppins and Crazy For You at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, will reunite with Maureen for the production 28 years after they worked on the National Theatre's acclaimed production of Oklahoma!

The comedy follows Allegra, a woman so full of joy that she cannot stop herself from bursting into song. However, this leads to chaos in the village where she lives. When it becomes her brother's and carer's responsibility to control her eccentricities and avoid angry visits, how can they avoid destroying the happiness that fills Allegra's heart?

The production will take audiences on a touching and emotional examination of how, sometimes, the most beautifulof minds can start to disappear.

Joining Maureen in the production will be John Middleton (Emmerdale, ITV), Elizabeth Bower (Trollied) and Bailey Patrick (Bridgerton).

Completing the creative team will be Set & Costume Designer Justin Williams, Lighting Designer Samuel Biondolillo, and Sound Designer Russell Ditchfield.

Audiences hoping to catch it in London can see Allegra at the Richmond Theatre from 8 - 13 June 2026.
