Set in Dublin in 1922, we follow Juno Boyle, a resilient matriarch who lives in a cramped tenement flat. As the Irish Civil War tears the country apart, Boyle fights to hold her struggling family together. Her husband, 'Captain' Jack Boyle, deludes himself with grand tales of adventures but rarely ventures further than the local pub. When unexpected fortune arrives with the promise of a better life, could their hardships finally end?
The play promises to be a poetic, poignant and darkly funny theatrical experience.
Juno and the Paycock will run at the Gielgud Theatre from 21 September - 23 November 2024.
