Following a sold out and acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, My English Persian Kitchen is heading to London.
Directed by Chris White, Hannah Khalil's new play comes from the original true story of the best-selling cookery book author by Atoosa Sepehr and will run for three weeks at Soho Theatre.
Isabella Nefar (Salomé, National Theatre) stars in the show.
My English Persian Kitchen is a poignant and timely play centred on themes of community, identity, and belonging, all infused with the rich, vibrant flavors of Persia. It tells the story of a woman embarking on a journey to rebuild her life after being forced to leave her homeland with little hope of return. In her new, unfamiliar surroundings, she yearns for the familiar tastes and aromas of her mother’s kitchen. As she lovingly recreates the cherished dishes of her childhood, she not only finds comfort but also creates a sense of belonging by bringing people together through food, ultimately discovering a new recipe for life.
My English Persian Kitchen will run at the Soho Theatre from 16 September - 5 October 2024.
