Barbican announces its 2027 spring/summer season

UK premiere of Saigon

French-Vietnamese writer and director Caroline Guiela Nguyen returns to the Barbican following the UK premiere of LaCrima in 2025 with the UK premiere of Saigon, which was first produced in 2017. Saigon is set between a Vietnamese restaurant between Saigon in 1956 and Paris in 1996, with characters from different generations reflecting on exile, memory and history. It is performed in French and Vietnamese with English surtitles.

UK premiere of A Doll's House

French-Norwegian company Plexus Polaire returns to the Barbican for the UK premiere of A Doll’s House, which is part of the venue’s ongoing partnership with MimeLondon. The production will adapt Henrik Ibsen's classic play about womanhood and motherhood using puppetry, and will star artistic director Yngvild Aspeli.

Death Note the Musical returns

The hit musical adaptation of the popular manga and anime Death Note will return to the Barbican following its wildly successful 2026 run at the venue.

World premiere of Three Men on a Billboard

ZooCo returns with this production directed by ZooCo co-founders Fleur Rooth and Flo O’Mahony. It's based on the true story of three men who entered a radio competition in 1982 to win a mobile home by living on a 30-foot billboard beside a motorway.

World premiere of Romeo & Juliet

CRIPtic Arts will present a reimagining of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet through the experiences of two disabled characters, exploring independence, autonomy and infantilisation. It is directed by artistic director Jamie Hale and stars Tatum Swithenbank and Steph Castelete.

A Night with Boy Blue

Barbican associate artists Boy Blue will celebrate 25 years of the hip-hop company with this production featuring almost 200 dancers from past training programmes, featuring performances from the company repertoire.

Absence and Presence

MimeLondon will also present Andrew Dawson’s Absence and Presence, which explores Dawson's experiences with losing his father and combines dance, mime, sculpture, personal letters and video set to a score by Joby Talbot.

Tout/Rien

Belgian company Compagnie Modo Grosso will make its London debut with Tout/Rien (All/Nothing), which is created by Alexis Rouvre and performed by Loïc Faure. The production uses fabrics, chains and stones to explore the relationship between movement, objects and stage space.

Witness

Created in collaboration between Theatre Peckham and Words of Colour, directed by Suzann McLean, and based on the novella by Alex Wheatle, Witness follows a student named Cornell whose life changes after he witnesses an act of violence.

As previously announced, the scheduled revival of Sunday in the Park with George has cancelled its run at the Barbican.
