Cast announced for CARE at Young Vic

The internationally-acclaimed writer and director Alexander Zeldin will make his Young Vic debut with Care, a life-affirming family drama which begins its run in May.

A multi-generational cast will take the stage, led by BAFTA nominated Best Actress Linda Bassett (Call the Midwife), who plays grandmother Joan. She is joined by Hayley Carmichael (Rhinoceros) as resident Simone, Rosie Cavaliero (Bookish) as mother Lynn, Richard Durden (Bridgerton) as resident John, Aoife Gaston (Doctor Who) as nurse Fanta, Llewella Gideon (Mr Loverman) as nurse Hazel, and William Lawlor (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) as teenager Laurie.
Making their professional stage debuts in the production will be Ethan Mahony and Charlie Webb. Care will also feature a community cast with members from the Young Vic’s creative engagement department, Taking Part.
The play follows a single mum, two young siblings, and their gran. Care offers audiences a revealing, tender, joyful, and moving examination of the realities of family life.
This production will mark the final Main House production in Nadia Fall's inaugural season, which will conclude with the world premiere of Sophie Swithinbank's String. That will be directed by Nancy Medina from 18 June - 18 July.
Care will play at the Young Vic from 11 May to 11 July.
