Could Elf the musical come to the West End?

Elf the musical Word of the theatrical grapevine is that the musical adaptation of the cult 2003 Christmas film Elf, that stared Will Farrell, could be coming to the West End this Christmas.

The production is rumoured to arrive at the Dominion Theatre from 24 October 2015 and run for a very limited 10-week run over the Christmas period.

Elf the musical began life on Broadway back in 2010 and has gone on to tour the US. The show features songs by Chad Beguelin and Matthew Sklar and tells the uplifting and funny story of one of Santa’s elves who journeys to New York City to find his real human father, but quickly discovers that the human world is not quite the cheery Christmas wonderland that he is used to.

The UK production that has its eye on the West End ran in Dublin and Plymouth in 2014, receiving high praise from audience and critics alike. Leading the cast was Ben Forster, the man who shot to fame after winning Superstar, the ITV talent show competition to cast the role of Jesus in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s revival of Jesus Christ Superstar. Rising-star actress Aoibhinn McGinnity joined Forster on stage last year. The big question now is, will the cast reprise their roles in the possible West End transfer?
