Full Casting Announced for REDCLIFFE at Southwark Playhouse Borough

Full casting has been announced for the highly anticipated premiere of Redcliffe, a new musical coming to Southwark Playhouse Borough for a strictly limited run from 22nd May to 4th July 2026.

Joining the production will be Rebecca Lock (Here and Now) as Mother, Daniel Krikler (Fiddler On The Roof) as Richard, Jess Douglas-Welsh (Woven: A New Musical) as Abigail, Adrian Hansel (We Will Rock You) as Baber, Melissa Jacques (Just For One Day) as Georgie/Judge, Jade Johnson (&Juliet) as Landlady, Phoebe Kyriakopoulos (A Very Musical Birthday in Concert) as Esther, Joseph Peacock (Dear Evan Hansen) as Arthur and Steven Serlin (Here We Are) as Officer/Felix.

Redcliffe features a book, music, and lyrics by Jordan Luke Gage (Bonnie & Clyde, Heathers, &Juliet), who will be playing the lead role of William, which he will reprise from eight sold-out workshop performances at The Other Palace in 2024.

Set in Redcliffe, Bristol in the 18th century, Redcliffe tells the haunting truly story of William Critchard and Richard Arnold. William, a man from a humble background, is swept into a passionate, dangerous affair when he meets visiting sailor Richard. What follows is a story of forbidden love and heartbreaking persecution.

Redcliffe is directed by Paul Foster and features choreography by Emma Woods, set design by Andrew Exeter, costume design by Martin Hanly, lighting design by Matt Hockley, sound design by Alastair Penman, and musical supervision by Katy Richardson.
