Created by the UK’s first Meisner-based movement theatre company, I Made You a Mixtape is a brand new show coming to London's Cockpit Theatre ahead of a transfer to Edinburgh Fringe this summer.

I Made You a Mixtape is a fast-paced, 50-minute movement-led theatrical experience where performers respond physically and emotionally to the music in real time, meaning no two performances are ever exactly the same. Set in a chaotic 90s college dorm party where friendship, heartbreak, nostalgia, and the greatest hits of the decade collide, it follows nine women through one final night together before their lives change forever. Expect old-school camcorders, ridiculous party games, emotional chaos, deep friendship, and the kind of music that instantly transports you back to a simpler time. Warm, funny, heartfelt, and wildly nostalgic, this female-led production is a love letter to growing up, growing apart, and the friends who made us who we are.
I Made You a Mixtape is created by Response Theatre Company, a UK-based, female-led company led by Christie Lee Manning, which is developing what could be the first Meisner-based movement theatre practice. This applies Sanford Meisner’s acting principles to movement, choreography and music, allowing movement to become dialogue and music to become the scene partner. It's a fascinating method that's being explored in drama schools across the UK, Canada, and New York.
The show has proven especially popular with women aged 25–45 and is the perfect girls’ night out, date night, or pre-drinks alternative. It’s a chance to escape the chaos of 2026 and spend 50 minutes immersed in pure 90s nostalgia.
I Made You a Mixtape is playing at the Cockpit Theatre from 12th to 14th June.
