MAMMA MIA! announces new West End cast and extends booking

The global smash-hit musical Mamma Mia! will welcome a new West End cast at the Novello Theatre from next month. It will also extend booking through to October 2027.

From 12 October 2026, Sara Poyzer (Come From Away, UK tour) and Richard Standing (Faith Healer, Pitlochry Festival Theatre) will return as Donna and Sam respectively. They will be joined in the 2026/27 West End cast by Vivien Carter (Anything Goes, Barbican) as Tanya, Laura Medforth (Muriel’s Wedding, Curve) as Rosie, Daniel Crowder (Gypsy, The Mill at Sonning) as Harry, Rakesh Boury (Matilda the Musical, West End) as Bill, Ellie Gilbert-Grey (Freaky Friday the Musical, Home Manchester) as Sophie, Kyle Cox (&Juliet, UK & Ireland Tour) as Sky, Natorii Illidge (Moulin Rouge! The Musical, West End) as Ali, Foxy Valentine (MAMMA MIA!) as Lisa, Edward Turner (Grease, International Tour) as Eddie and Charlie Garton (Matilda the Musical, UK & Ireland tour) as Pepper.

Mamma Mia! recently celebrated its 27th birthday on 6 April 2026, making it the third longest-running West End musical of all time. It takes place on an idyllic Greek island, where Sophie helps her mother, free-spirited Donna, run a hotel. Now that she's getting married, Sophie is determined to find out the identity of her mysterious father. She invites the three possible contenders to her wedding and Donna soon finds herself confronted with three of her ex-lovers. This heartwarming, funny story is set to an irresistible soundtrack made up of ABBA's greatest hits, including 'Dancing Queen', 'Gimme Gimme Gimme', and of course, 'Mamma Mia'.

With music & lyrics by Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia! is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. Since premiering in London’s West End in 1999, it has been seen by over 70 million people worldwide and has played over 10,000 performances in London. It has also been adapted into a film in 2008, followed by a sequel in 2018, starring Meryl Streep as Donna and Amanda Seyfried as Sophie, with Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, and Dominic Cooper.

Mamma Mia! has now extended booking until 2 October 2027.
