Best known for Ted Lasso and Slow Horses, Nick Mohammed, who was a finalist in the first series of The Celebrity Traitors, will take on the role of the Host in The Traitors - Acts of Betrayal. He was formally sworn in by Claudia Winkleman, the TV host of The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors on BBC One and iPlayer, in a video filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, home of the hit BBC version of The Traitors, where she had him solemnly swear The Traitors Host Oath before he takes on the role for the stage.
Mohammed expressed his excitement about stepping into Winkleman's shoes onstage, saying, "I couldn’t be more delighted to be joining such an original and wildly ambitious show."
The most-watched programme in 2025, The Traitors takes place in a castle in Scotland, in which a group of faithful contestants fights to win a cash prize while trying to sniff out the secret saboteurs planted in their midst. The stage show is written by John Finnemore (Cabin Pressure) and directed by Robert Hastie, director of the Olivier Awards Best New Musical winners, Standing at the Sky’s Edge and Operation Mincemeat. It aims to condense what unfolds across a full television series into one thrilling evening: the Traitors are chosen, the round tables and murders take their toll, and by the end of the night a winner is crowned.
It will comprise a cycle of five new plays, with each weekday performance beginning with the same premise before diverging into a different narrative. Characters eliminated early in one version of the story may emerge victorious in another. Each play is a complete work in its own right while also forming part of a larger interconnected cycle. On Saturday performances, there will be an audience participation element, whereby audiences will determine which character becomes a Traitor, with that choice influencing which version of the story is performed.
The full creative team announced today includes Designer Ben Stones (Operation Mincemeat), Lighting Designer Mark Henderson (Standing at the Sky’s Edge), Sound Designer Alexandra Faye Braithwaite (Giant), Choreographer Kate Prince (Sylvia), Music by Martin Lowe (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and Casting Director Stuart Burt CDG CSA (Cabaret).
The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal will begin previews at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on 11 May 2027, ahead of an opening night on 8 June.
