The play by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl's romantic comedy will make its UK premiere after its critically acclaimed New York run in 2014. It will be directed by Blanche McIntyre, marking their second collaboration after Letters From Max, which was staged at the Hampstead Downstairs last year.
Set in 1930s New York, where Ada is dying, and her true love has made the journey from Europe for one final embrace. The estranged lovers are reunited, convinced their love will conquer all obstacles. Except, it’s 2011 New Haven, and these are rehearsals for The Last Kiss, a long-forgotten play. However, there's a plot twist. The two leading actors have an explosive romantic history of their own and as opening night approaches, a passionate affair may be waiting in the wings..
Casting for the show is to be announced. The creative team includes designer Robert Innes Hopkins, lighting designer Oliver Fenwick and casting director Juliet Horsley CDG.
Stage Kiss will run from 8 May - 13 June.
