Blending American songwriting traditions, from indie folk to pop blues and New Orleans-inspired jazz, the musical takes audiences on an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back. Hadestown intertwines two mythic love stories—those of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and wife Persephone.
The musical first premiered off-Broadway in 2016 before its London run in 2018 at the National Theatre, where it sold out its entire run. Hadestown then opened on Broadway, where it continues to play. Subsequent tours and productions worldwide have taken place, including its return to the West End in 2024.
Rachel Adedeji (Thriller Live!, West End and UK Tour) will play Persephone. Joining her will be Bethany Antonia (House of Dragon, HBO) as Eurydice, Marley Fenton (The Wizard of Oz, UK Tour) as Orpheus, Alastair Parker (The Crucible, National Theatre and West End) as Hades, and Clive Rowe (Guys and Dolls, National Theatre) as Hermes.
Spike Maxwell will join Melanie Bright and Lauran Rae to play the Fates; Gabriela Benedetti joins Femi Akinfolarin, Michelle Andrews, Ollie Bingham, and Sebastian Lim-Seet to play the Workers, with Juan Jackson, Oisín Nolan-Power, Lindo Shinda, Jasmine Triadi and new cast member Milly Willows as Swings.
Hadestown is now booking through to 13 December 2026 at the Lyric Theatre.
