Ben Platt, the Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winning actor who starred in Dear Evan Hansen and Parade, will make his stage debut as Trever Copeland in the production. He also stars alongside Rachel Zegler in a special 25th anniversary concert of The Last Five Years at the London Palladium next month.
With book music and lyrics by Golden Globe and Grammy Award-winner and Academy Award nominee Mark Sonnenblick (“Golden”, KPop Demon Hunters), Midnight at the Never Get is set in 1965 New York City and follows Trever Copeland and Arthur Brightman's illegal romance. In an act of defiance, the couple meet in their secret nightclub where they perform love songs together. As tensions rise at the start of a historic movement, Trevor and Arthur are torn between their own surreptitious affair and the oncoming storm of social revolution.
Ben Platt said on the news, “I’m thrilled to be undertaking my first full run on the London stage at the Menier as it transforms into the nightclub setting of The Never Get. It’s truly wonderful to work with Mark, who is not only a genius songwriter, but who has also become a true friend. It’s a very special piece, my first wholly original musical since Dear Evan Hansen, and we look forward to working with the generationally talented David Cromer to create this singular experience.”
The production will feature Set Design by Scott Pask, with further cast and creatives to be announced.
Midnight at the Never Get will play at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 11 July - 12 September.
