John Osborne's The Entertainer follows musical hall performer Archie Rice as he attempts to keep his act going while his family falls apart. As the world changes around him, with conflict in the Middle East, the end of an empire and the changing nature of British identity, Archie struggles to confront his own misery while hiding behind jokes and showmanship.

David Tennant, best known for Doctor Who, Broadchurch, and Good Omens, will play Archie in his first Almeida Theatre appearance, having last been seen on stage in Macbeth at the Donmar Warehouse and in the West End in 2024.

Directed by Dominic Cooke, this revival marks a return for John Osborne at the Almeida after Look Back in Anger in 2024.

The Entertainer will open at the Almeida in early 2028, with further casting and creative team due to be announced.
