Last Autumn, we reported that Chris Pine would be making his London stage debut in a new production of Ivanov this summer. Now, it has been reported that it has been moved to a premiere in 2027 instead.

Written and directed by Simon Stone, in collaboration with Wouter van Ransbeek, the new production of Chekhov's drama will present another radical reimagining of a classic work at the Bridge Theatre, following The Lady from the Sea, which was performed there last year.
Ivanov follows a disillusioned and debt-ridden Russian landowner, Nikolai Ivanov. He's married to the perfect woman, he's had a successful career: he should be heading into mid-life feeling confident and settled. Debts are piling up, and his wife has been laid low with unexpected illnesses, but what is it that is gnawing at him?
Chris Pine is still set to lead the production in the title role, now planned for a run from 27 July to 16 October 2027. News on what production will replace it at the theatre this summer is to be announced.
Existing ticket holders for 2026 dates will be contacted by their point of purchase to reschedule.
