About Cabaret

Cabaret is set in 1930s Berlin during the rise of the Nazis, where the English night club performer Sally Bowles works in the notorious Kit Kat Club. It follows her relationship with the American writer Cliff Bradshaw, while boarding house owner Fraulein Schneider and her Jewish lover Herr Schultz struggle to navigate the growing dangers in Germany. It combines a sophisticated night club setting, gorgeous show tunes, and jaw-dropping costumes with a powerful social commentary on the political and cultural upheaval during its time. It features a dazzling soundtrack with songs like Wilkommen, Don’t Tell Mama, Mein Herr, Maybe This Time, Money and the title number.

This production of Cabaret opened in December 2021 to critical and audience acclaim. In 2022 it won a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards. The production has also won three prestigious Critics Circle Awards, as well as the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Design for designer Tom Scutt.
