About The Play That Goes Wrong
Now in its 12th year, The Play That Goes Wrong is the longest-running comedy in the West End. It follows the fictional, accident-prone, and utterly disastrous Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society as they attempt to stage The Murder at Haversham Manor, a 1920s murder mystery. The performance descends into chaos with collapsing scenery, missing props, forgotten lines, and injuries, while the actors desperately struggle to continue.
The Play That Goes Wrong opened in London in 2012 and has been playing at the Duchess Theatre since 2014. It won a 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and has toured the UK five times so far. The Broadway production, which ran for two years between 2017 and 2019, is still playing on stage off-Broadway.
The cast
The new cast members include Ruby Ablett as Annie, Matthew Spencer as Chris, Raphael Bushay as Robert, Luke Wilson as Jonathan, Lucinda Turner as Sandra, Alex Bird as Dennis, Joshua Lendon as Max and Kieron Michael as Trevor. The understudies are: Paige Round, Harry Al-Adwani, Tom Quinn, Will Bishop and Phoenix Edwards. Winston the dog returns to play Winston the dog. The new cast will begin performances from 2 June 2026.
About Mischief
Mischief Theatre was founded in 2008 by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, students at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Originally creating brilliant improvised comedic shows, in 2012 they took their first step into theatre. Since then their unique blend of physical comedy, hilarious storytelling, choreography, stunts and gags has won hearts all over the country, with sell-out shows such as Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrong, and the Olivier-nominated The Comedy About Spies.
The Play That Goes Wrong is playing at the Duchess Theatre until 3 October 2027.
