SISTER ACT to embark on UK and Ireland tour with initial casting announced

Based on the 1992 film of the same name starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act follows a lounge singer named Deloris Van Cartier, who witnesses a murder and is put into witness protection, forced to join an abbey under the alias Sister Mary Clarence. Struggling to adjust to the nuns' austere way of living, Deloris decides to give the abbey choir a much needed makeover by introducing some R&B into their musical repertoire.

Zoe Birkett will lead the cast as Deloris Van Cartier, with Craig Revel Horwood as Mother Superior, and Paul Chuckle as Monsignor O'Hara. Further casting is due to be announced.

The musical features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner, with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane. The production is directed by Bill Buckhurst, with choreography by Alistair David, set and costume design by Morgan Large, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, sound design by Tom Marshall, musical supervision by Stephen Brooker and and wigs, hair and make up design by Sam Cox.

Sister Act will begin its tour at the New Wimbledon Theatre on 11 September 2027.
