New Wimbledon Theatre Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to the New Wimbledon Theatre?
The theatre stands at 93 The Broadway, SW19 1QG, a few minutes' walk from Wimbledon station — District line, South Western Railway trains from Waterloo and the tram all arrive there, which makes this one of the easier suburban theatres to reach from central London. Turn up The Broadway from the station and the domed tower with its figure of Laetitia is your landmark. Buses stop along The Broadway, and there is a second entrance on Russell Road.
Does the New Wimbledon Theatre have step-free access?
Yes, and unlike many older houses it reaches the Stalls. An access lift gives step-free entry to Stalls level, where nine wheelchair spaces are set aside — the lift measures 1400mm deep by 800mm wide and takes up to 400kg. A wheelchair-adapted toilet with baby-change and an adapted bar counter are both at Stalls level too. There is a second entrance on Russell Road; let staff know you are there on arrival so someone can see you through. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout. Hearing support is by the Mobile Connect system, which streams the sound to your own phone, so bring headphones. Book the wheelchair spaces ahead rather than on the night — there are only nine.
Can I avoid the interval queue at the New Wimbledon Theatre?
Yes. Drinks and snacks can be ordered to your seat rather than fetched from the bar, and orders can be placed from the day of the performance onwards — so the interval is yours instead of the queue's. The bars themselves are open before the show and at the interval as usual, and the counter at Stalls level is adapted for wheelchair users.
