Based on Suzanne Collins' young adult book series and the Lionsgate film franchise, The Hunger Games is set in a dystopian future where each year children from the twelve districts of Panem are reaped to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal fight to the death watched by hundreds of bloodthirsty citizens in the Capitol. When Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her sister’s place in the Games, she’s forced to fight for her survival while inadvertently becoming the face of the rebellion.

The stage play, based on the first book in the saga, has been adapted by Conor McPherson and is directed by Matthew Dunster. The creative team includes Miriam Buether (Set and Costume Designer), Moi Tran (Costume Designer), Charlotte Broom (Choreographer), Lucy Carter (Lighting Designer), Ian Dickinson for Autograph (Sound Designer), Tal Rosner (Video Designer), Chris Fisher (Illusions), Kev McCurdy (Fight Director), John Maddox for Suspended Illusions Ltd (Performer Flying and Special Effects), James Maloney (Arranger, Musical Director and Additional Compositions), and Amy Ball CDG (Casting Director).

The cast is led by Mia Carragher as Katniss Everdeen with Euan Garrett as Peeta Mellark, Joshua Lacey as Haymitch Abernathy, Tristan Waterson as Gale Hawthorne, Sophia Ally as Primrose Everdeen and Heddle, Ruth Everett as Mrs. Everdeen & Ensemble, Tamsin Carroll as Effie Trinket, Stavros Demetraki as Caesar Flickerman and Nathan Ives-Moiba as Cinna & Mayor. John Malkovich plays President Snow on screen. The production's second year cast will begin performances on 20 October 2026, and will be announced in due course.

The Hunger Games: On Stage is staged at the Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre, the new 1,200 seat purpose-built, dynamic theatre-in-the-round venue designed specifically to host this production. In May and June, the theatre will host two special exhibitions in its foyer: a floral installation celebrating the forthcoming release of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, alongside an exhibition of costumes used in connection with the original film.

The Hunger Games: On Stage is now booking until 14 February 2027.
