What's the show about?
It's 1914, and the Great War is breaking out across Europe. Young Albert Narracott is distraught when his beloved horse Joey is sold to the military and sent into battle in France.
Joey is plunged into a life of peril, violence and disease, and makes an extraordinary journey through the war, befriending another war horse, Topthorn, on the way.
Back home in Devon, Albert can't forget about Joey. Too young to enlist, he bluffs his way into the army and embarks on a life-threatening mission to find his beloved horse and bring him back home.
