Invasive Species in London

Invasive Species is based on playwright Maia Novi’s own experiences in a youth psychiatric ward. In this dark, frenetic comedy, a young immigrant drama student suffers a psychotic breakdown and is institutionalised, where she continues to pursue her dreams of being a Hollywood star while adapting to her new circumstances and befriending her fellow inmates.

Written by Maia Nova, who also plays the lead role, and directed by Michael Breslin, Invasive Species first premiered to immediate popularity at The Tank in New York in 2023 before transferring to the Vineyard Theatre in 2024. The Hollywood Reporter called it a ‘high-stakes fever dream’ and Theatremania described it as ‘an 80-minute thrill ride’.Now it arrives at the King’s Head Theatre for a strictly limited five-week run from September 23rd - book now to catch this dizzying and sharp-edged play about lying to live and living to lie.
