Krapp’s Last Tape/Godot’s To-Do List Tickets

The Royal Court Theatre presents two back-to-back plays honouring the legacy of Samuel Beckett. Opening as a curtain-raiser, Godot's To Do List is a bold new comedy where a bewildered man wrestles with an endless and surreal series of tasks directed to him by a mysterious and frustratingly sarcastic voice. Painting a picture of the absurd and chaotic nature of modern existence, this new play by a rising star young playwright pays homage to Beckett's searing exploration of human nature. Leo Simpe-Asante's clever and confident slice of absurdist comedy won the inaugural Royal Court Young Playwrights Award 2025. Now it opens at the Royal Court Theatre, directed by Aneesha Srinivasan. Simpe-Asante said, 'I wrote Godot's To-Do List as an exploration of existentialism, humanity and how we choose to interpret our time on earth, and I cannot wait to see it come to life.'

Next, Samuel Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape, starring Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), returns to the Royal Court after almost seventy years.This celebrates a seven-decade-old tradition of curtain-raisers: Krapp's Last Tape's own debut was as a curtain-raiser. In this one-act-play, we meet Krapp, a lonely man in his sixties. Each year on his birthday, he records a new tape, a review of the past year. But on his 69th birthday, Krapp decides to change things up by listening back to a tape he recorded thirty years ago. What follows is a beautifully, painfully existential introspection on self-discovery and the march of time, told through Beckett's signature wit and gift for reflection.
