Full cast announced for A RAISIN IN THE SUN

Headlong's upcoming production of the groundbreaking classic will premiere in Leeds next month ahead of its London run planned in October.

The full cast and creative team has been announced for A Raisin in the Sun.
Both groundbreaking and challenging, the play broke barriers as the first play by a Black woman on Broadway. The production is touring to select venues this Autumn, including a run at the Lyric Hammersmith from 8 October 2024.
Directed by Tinuke Craig (The Color Purple), the cast involves Gilbert Kyem Jnr will play George (The Milkmans Purpose), Kenneth Omole (Top Boy) will play Joseph/Bobo and Doreene Blackstock (Sex Education)will play Lena. The role of Travis will be performed by Jeriah Kibusi and Oliver Dunkley in London.
They join the previously announced Joséphine-Fransilja Brookman (High Times and Dirty Monsters) who will play Beneatha, Cash Holland (A Streetcar Named Desire) who will play Ruth, Solomon Israel (Jitney) who will play Walter Lee and Jonah Russell (Arms and the Man) who will play Karl.
Joining Craig on the creative team are Cécile Trémolières (Set Designer) Maybelle Laye (Costume Designer), Dominique Hamilton (Wigs, Hair & Make up Designer) Max Pappenheim (Composer & Sound Designer), Joshua Pharo (Lighting Designer), Sarita Piotrowski (Movement Director), Haruka Kuroda (Fight & Intimacy Director), Aundrea Fudge (Voice & Dialect Coach), Phillipe Cato (Associate Director), Ruta Irbite (Design Associate), Luke Haywood (Lighting Associate), Lotte Hines (Casting Director) and Joi Gresham (Literary Trustee).
A classic family drama jam-packed with humour and heart, A Raisin in the Sun remains relevant and powerful in a world still divided by inequality. We follow the Younger family, an African American family living in Chicago's South Side, as they struggle with poverty, racial discrimination, and conflicting dreams.
A Raisin in the Sun will run at the Lyric Hammersmith from 8 October - 2 November 2024.
