Choreographed and directed by Carlos Acosta CBE, Nutcracker in Havana is a vibrant take on the festive classic. It originally opened in November 2024 to tremendous reviews and sold-out performances across the country.
Nutcracker in Havana is set to an exuberant Cuban newly commissioned version of the timeless Tchaikovsky score, arranged by Cuban composer Pepe Gavilondo. The production, which features over 20 dancers from Carlos' Cuban company Acosta Danza, brings together the traditional story with ballet at its core but in the unique style of its choreographer. Cuban dance traditions have been carefully fused and woven throughout the classic tale.
Nutcracker in Havana features spectacular video projection and set design by Nina Dunn (9 to 5 Musical), costume design by Angelo Alberto, compositions and arrangements by Pepe Gavilondo Peón and lighting design by Andrew Exeter.
Casting for the tour is to be announced.
As part of the tour, Nutcracker in Havana will play at the Hackney Empire from 4-6 November 2025.
