Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has announced the full cast for Arti Banerjee's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, opening this summer.
Artwork provided by production.
In this classic comedy by William Shakespeare, four young lovers caught in a chaotic love quadrangle flee into the woods outside Athens, where a group of would-be actors are rehearsing for a play that's poised to go wrong. The hapless humans soon find themselves caught in the middle of a bitter dispute in the fairy kingdom, where King Oberon and Queen Titania are in a lovers' quarrel of their own. When the mischievous trickster Puck slips the lovers a love potion and transforms the player Bottom into a donkey-headed beast, confusion and hilarity ensue, as reality threatens to collide with the realm of dreams.
The cast includes Issam Al Ghussain (Flute); Rachel Barnes (Moth); Georgia Bruce (Puck); Misia Butler (Lysander); Neil D'Souza (Snug & Egeus); Amelia Gabriel (Mustardseed); Harriet Gordon-Anderson (Quince); Rori Hawthorn (Cobweb); Olivier Huband (Oberon & Theseus); Nadeem Islam (Bottom); Damien James (Peaseblossom); Terique Jarrett (Demetrius); Evie Jones (Snout); Mary Malone (Helena); Hiftu Quasem (Hermia); Jenny Rainsford (Titania & Hippolyta) and Dumile Sibanda (Starveling).
Atri Banerjee (The Glass Menagerie, Julius Caesar, RSC) directs, with a creative team that includes Rachel Barnes (Musical Director); Naomi Dawson (Set Designer); Yarit Dor (Intimacy & Fight Director); Amara Heyland (Associate Director); Anjali Mehra (Movement Director); Maimuna Memon (Composer & Musical Arrangements); Tomás Palmer (Costume Designer); Max Pappenheim (Sound Designer); Joshua Pharo (Lighting Designer); Jacob Sparrow (Casting Director); and Emma Woodvine (Voice & Text Director).
Banerjee said, "There is no play better suited to the Park’s surroundings... I can’t wait to work with this extraordinary group of actors and creatives to make art, make music, and collectively dream this summer."
A Midsummer Night's Dream will run from 20 June to 18 July 2026, with a press night on 29 June.
