Cynthia Erivo to star in new production of DRACULA in London's West End

The news, reported by Deadline, will see the Tony-winning and Oscar-nominated actress perform in this new production early next year, following her role as Jesus in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar at The Hollywood Bowl.

This new production of Dracula, adapted and directed by Kip Williams, will see Cynthia returning to the stage for the first time over a decade, the last time she performed in The Color Purple, earning her a Tony Award.

Now more popularly known for playing Elphaba in the Wicked film, Cynthia Erivo will play the vampire and 22 other roles in a one-woman production of Dracula heading to the West End next year.

In his adaptation, Williams delves into the enduring metaphorical power of Dracula, crafting a bold retelling that reorients the narrative around a psychological battle between fear and desire. Through a transformative solo performance, the production blurs the boundaries between self and other, suggesting that the monster is perhaps not external, but something that stirs within.

The production is being brought to the London stage by the creative and producing team behind the production of The Picture of Dorian Gray, which starred Sarah Snook. The Picture of Dorian Gray played at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2024 and obtained Olivier Awards for Best Actress and Best Costume Design. It transferred onto Broadway earlier this year, where it is currently up for an astounding six Tony Awards.

The run of Sydney Theatre Company's production of Dracula will play at the Noel Coward Theatre for a limited 16-week engagement from 4 February - 31 March 2026. We will keep you updated on the news of this exciting addition to London's theatre scene next year as we get it!
