Every Brilliant Thing premiered in Edinburgh in 2014 and is a wildly popular, one-person play that has since gone on to delight audiences in over 80 countries worldwide and has been adapted into a highly successful HBO film.
The play is based on a combination of true and untrue stories, resulting in an uplifting play about depression, told from the perspective of a child. To help their mum, the child starts a list of everything that is brilliant about the world. Every Brilliant Thing will unearth the lengths we go for those we love.
Four exceptional actors, Lenny Henry (August in England, Bush Theatre), Jonny Donahoe (co-creator and original performer of Every Brilliant Thing), Ambika Mod (One Day, Netflix,) and Sue Perkins (The Great British Bake Off, BBC), will open the season at @sohoplace this summer.
They will perform in the following date order: Lenny Henry from 1-30 August, Jonny Donahoe from 13 August - 1 September, Sue Perkins from 4 to 27 September and Ambika Mod from 2-26 September.
Every Brilliant Thing is designed by Vicki Mortimer with lighting design by Jack Knowles, sound design by Tom Gibbons and casting by Jessica Ronane CDG.
Hailed by Time Out as "filled to the brim with joy", Every Brilliant Thing will play at @sohoplace from 1 August - 27 September. It will follow the West End transfer of The Fifth Step, which will run until 26 July.
