Full cast announced for EXPENDABLE at the Royal Court Theatre

The world premiere of Emateaz Hussain's play will open at the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs from next month.

The full cast has been announced for Expendable.
Directed by Esther Richardson, the cast includes Maya Bartley O’Dea (Maryland, Theatre Royal Stratford East) as Jade Steel, Avita Jay (A Tupperware of Ashes, National Theatre) as Zara, Lena Kaur (The Cat and the Canary, Chichester Festival Theatre) as Yasmin, Gurjeet Singh (No Pay? No Way!, Royal Exchange Manchester) as Raheel and Humera Syed (Peanut Butter & Blueberries, Kiln Theatre) as Sofia.
Expendable takes a look at what happened between the 1990s and 2010s hundreds of young girls were sexually exploited in northern towns by gangs of predatory men. The play follows two sisters who grapple with the impact on their community as the men around them are embroiled in a sexual abuse scandal.
The creative team includes design by Natasha Jenkins, with dramaturgy by Nazli Tabatabai-Khatambakhsh, lighting design by Azusa Ono, sound design by Arun Ghosh and the casting director is Nadine Rennie CDG.
Expendable runs at Royal Court Theatre's Jerwood Theatre Upstairs from 21 November until 21 December 2024.
