Blending American songwriting traditions, from indie folk, to pop, blues, and New Orleans-inspired jazz, Hadestown is a reimagining and retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, whose star-crossed love for each other takes them into the heart of the underworld, ruled by the tyrant Hades and his jaded wife Persephone. It has music, lyrics, and book by acclaimed Tony and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winner Anaïs Mitchell, who originated Hadestown as an indie theatre project and acclaimed album, and is directed by Tony Award-winning director Rachel Chavkin.

The current West End cast of Hadestown includes Rachel Adedeji as Persephone, Bethany Antonia as Eurydice, Marley Fenton as Orpheus, Alastair Parker as Hades and Clive Rowe as Hermes. Melanie Bright, Spike Maxwell and Lauran Rae play the Fates. Femi Akinfolarin, Michelle Andrews, Gabriela Benedetti, Ollie Bingham and Sebastian Lim-Seet play the Workers, with Juan Jackson, Oisín Nolan-Power, Lindo Shinda, Jasmine Triadi and Milly Willows as Swings.

The creative team includes David Neumann (Choreography), Rachel Hauck (Scenic Design), Michael Krass (Costume Design), Bradley King (Lighting Design), Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz (Sound Design), Liam Robinson (Music Supervision and Vocal Arrangements), Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose (Arrangements and Orchestrations), Ken Cerniglia (Dramaturgy), and Jennifer Mullins (Wigs and Hair Design).

Hadestown will now run at the Lyric Theatre until 27 June 2027.
