What has been the best part about being involved with the Faulty Towers: Dining Experience so far?
Getting to work with such an array of very talented performers who bring their own interpretations of characters. I love how the show will always feel new and different. It’s also lovely visiting so many different venues across the country and internationally.
Prior to taking on the role of Sybil - did you watch a lot of the Faulty Towers TV programme?
Yes, over and over again. I must have rewatched Sybil’s laugh thousands of times.
What’s the best thing about playing Sybil?
Her wig and style is ridiculous and I love it! Never will I get the chance to wear such an amazing costume in anything else. I also love how much of a powerhouse she is. She doesn’t take any nonsense but she also loves to have a laugh and let her hair down. I need to take a leaf from her book!
This is a dining experience so every one must be different from the other - how do you react to that as a performer?
I love it. Every show will bring something new, or the audience will bring a different energy. I love improvisation and revel in thinking on my feet and trying something new according to what the audience give me, so I get quite excited about what each show will bring!
What has been your favourite memory of working on this experience so far?
I got a man up to dance once for fun and he got so excited, he didn’t want to stop dancing, so I sat down and watched him and let him entertain me for a moment. It was really fun.
What can audiences expect from the Faulty Towers: Dining Experience?
A very tight and farcical performance with excellent characterisations. I always say to people it will be an experience (one they may wish to forget but an experience all the same!) It’s just such a fun night. I think coming along with an open mind and up for fun is perfect. What’s lovely is you can just watch and take it in, or get involved. There’s something for everyone, even children.
Do you have to be a fan of the TV programme in order to fully enjoy everything this experience has to offer?
No, not at all. We get a lot of people coming to watch the show who have never seen the programme & they still absolutely love it. I think because it’s so silly and there are clown moments with Manuel, it’s an internationally enjoyable show, which most importantly is relatable. I mean who doesn’t have kitchen mishaps and a ridiculous family life?
If another TV programme could become an experience (not necessarily dining), which one would you choose and why?
I would choose The Office. It makes me laugh so much every time I watch it. People would come for an office meeting, or a corporate awards ceremony and havoc ensues.
If you could play a different role - who would you like to play?
Manuel for sure. I love the clown like characteristics with him and he can have so much fun with the audience and misunderstanding in such an innocent way. He’s just such a silly and fun character to play and it will always be different. I'd love to try Basil but I think my height would let me down, otherwise I'd be perfect.

Because it’s something totally different. Immersive theatre is really popular these days and this show is just such a fun and uplifting experience that is guaranteed to leave you smiling at the end of the show & for me that’s what theatre and comedy is all about. Something that will make you laugh out loud and forget about everything else for a couple of hours.
