Production photos released for UK premiere of JANE EYRE

Production photos have been released for Jane Eyre, a musical by John Caird and Paul Gordon based on the novel by Charlotte Brontë, which had its UK premiere at Southwark Playhouse Elephant.

Based on the gothic novel by Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre follows the titular Jane, now grown from an orphan girl to an independent woman, who begins working at the dark, beautiful Thornwood Hall, where she finds herself drawn to its mysterious owner, Edward Rochester. But soon she finds herself caught up in a web of secrets and lies as she unravels the truth behind Rochester's past.

Jane Eyre the Musical first premiered in Toronto in 1996 and was subsequently produced on Broadway in 2000, where it was nominated for five Tony Awards. Thirty years on, the 2026 staging is being co-directed by by RSC and National Theatre director John Caird alongside Megan McGinnis.

The cast includes Charlie Burn (Jane) and Ashley Gilmour (Rochester) with  Claire Greenway (Abbot/Grace Poole), Melad Hamidi (St John/Lord Ingram), Connor Wood (John Reed/Vicar), Jonathan Andrew Hume (Brocklehurst/Mason), Izzi Levine (Agnes/Leah/Jane's Mother/Mary Ingram), Hannah Lindsey (Scatcherd/Bertha Mason), Isabelle Methven (Helen Burns/Bessie), Gemma Page (Reed/Fairfax) Eve Shanu-Wilson (Blanche/Sophie) with Poppy Jason (Young Jane/Adele) and Emily-Rose Samuel (Young Jane/Adele).

The full creative team includes Georgina Lamb - Choreographer, Morgan Large - Set & Costume Designer, Andrew Johnson - Sound Designer, James Whiteside - Lighting Designer, Ben Kubiak - Musical Director/Supervisor and Sarah-Jane Price - Casting Director.

Jane Eyre is playing at the Southwark Playhouse Elephant until 24 October 2026.
