About Jane Eyre ?

Inspired by the book by Charlotte Brontë, Jane is an orphan who has endured a life of adversity and brutality. She takes on the role of governess at Thornfield Hall where she becomes infatuated with the enigmatic Mr. Rochester. He holds a dark secret. When that is revealed, it forces Jane to make a difficult decision.

Stylish and modern adaptation

This adaptation of Janr Eyre was very good. Despite the length it remained engaging throughout and it stayed sufficiently true to the book. The music and staging was modern, stylish and well thought out, the main singer especially was exceptional. The stages of the plot were divided artistically through costume changes and the intensity of the relationship between Jane and Mr Rochester was very convincing. As a book lover I was concerned that the most powerful moments in the book would be lost, however I was happily surprised to find the play dramatically involving, both as a love story and as a tale of self empowerment.
