The double Olivier Award-winning smash hit production is based on the film by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. It will mark the 23rd annual Christmas season at Sadler's Wells later this year.

It will return to the stage as part of an extensive 2025/26 tour for the first time since the 2020 tour was cut short due to the pandemic.
Matthew Bourne's The Red Shoes premiered in 2016, with 11 of the original cast members returning for this 10th anniversary production.
Starring in The Red Shoes will be Ashley Shaw, Cordelia Braithwaite, Hannah Kremer and Holly Saw as Victoria Page, alongside Andy Monaghan and Reece Causton as Boris Lermontov, Dominic North and Leonardo McCorkindale as Julian Kraster, Michela Meazza, Cordelia Braithwaite and Katrina Lyndon as Irina Boronskaya, Liam Mower, Will Bozier and Jackson Fisch as Ivan Boleslawsky, and Glenn Graham, Liam Mower and Reece Causton as Grischa Ljubov.

A timeless fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson, The Red Shoes shares a powerful tale of obsession, possession and one girl's dream to become the greatest dancer in the world. The story follows Victoria Page, a young woman who lives to dance, but her ambitions become a fierce struggle between two men who inspire her passion.
The intoxicating dance production will play at Sadler's Wells from 2 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
