New musical LITTLE DANCER to have West End premiere in 2027

Little Dancer is inspired by the real-life story of Marie van Goethem, the young ballerina who posed for Edgar Degas's famous sculpture, The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer. Set against the glamourous but gritty world of Belle Epoque Paris, it explores the young, poor, and extraordinarily gifted Marie's untold story, and her relationship with Degas, the man who immortalised her.

Featuring a book by Lynn Ahrens and music and lyrics by Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Anastasia, Once on This Island), Little Dancer opened to critical acclaim in the US before transferring to London for a sold-out concert performance last year. This will be its first fully staged production in the UK.

Directed and choreographed by Broadway legend, two-time Olivier and five-time Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman (The Producers, Crazy for You, Contact, Oklahoma!), Little Dancer will star New York City Ballet Principal Dancer, Olivier Award nominee, Emmy Award winner and global ballet superstar, Tiler Peck. The rest of the cast includes Olivier Award nominees Julian Ovenden (High Society, Downton Abbey, South Pacific) as Edgar Degas, Laura Pitt-Pulford (Into the Woods,Standing at the Sky’s Edge, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) as Adult Marie and Josefina Gabrielle (High Society, Chicago, Les Misérables) as Martine.

The creative team includes Set Design by Beowulf Boritt, Lighting Design by Ken Billington, Costume Design by William Ivey Long, Sound Design by Kai Harada, Casting by Jill Green Casting, CDG, Orchestrations by Doug Besterman and Larry Hochman, and Music Supervision and Dance Arrangements by Sam Davis.

Little Dancer will play at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 15 February to 27 March 2027.
