The live capture is directed for the screen by Brett Sullivan (Hadestown) and produced by Dione Orrom (Six: The Musical Live!). This milestone moment in the musical's history coincides with its 40th anniversary, which will be celebrated on Friday 9th October with a special gala performance at His Majesty's Theatre. As part of the celebrations, celebrated alumni artists from the past four decades will join the current company on stage for a special curtain call.
The anniversary cast, who will perform through to 21st November, includes Jordan Donica as The Phantom, Beatrice Penny-Touré as Christine Daaé, Rhys Whitfield as Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny, Sierra Boggess as Carlotta, Matt Bateman as Piangi, Joseph Millson as Monsieur André, Ian Pirie as Monsieur Firmin, Joanna Riding as Madame Giry and Millie Lyon as Meg.
Widely considered one of the most popular and enduring musicals of all time, The Phantom of the Opera is a haunting epic set in a Paris opera house, where the beautiful singer Christine becomes the object of obsession for the tortured, scarred Phantom. Since 1986, it has played to over 160 million people in 217 cities, 52 territories and 21 languages. It has won over 70 major awards all over the world.
The Phantom of the Opera is booking until 13th March 2027.
