New musical 'REDCLIFFE' comes to Southwark Playhouse in 2026

The new musical will head to the Southwark Playhouse Borough from next May for a limited time following eight sold out workshop performances at The Other Palace in 2024.
Written by Jordan Luke Gage (Bonnie & Clyde, Garrick Theatre), he will also reprise his lead role as William in the show next year.
Set against the backdrop of 18th Century England, Redcliffe shares the haunting true story of William Critchard and Richard Arnold. One from humble beginnings and one a visiting sailor visiting the town of Redcliffe, Bristol - their epic tale of forbidden love will force them to confront everything they knew about the world and themselves.
Gage said on the news, “It has been my greatest fulfilment creating Redcliffe and exploring the world of 18th century Bristol, a time that was beyond terrifying for men like me to exist in. To be able to tell this story, one which has never been told on the public stage, and to be able to hopefully move, uplift and change people, is beyond thrilling for me as both writer and actor.”
With book, music, lyrics and starring Jordan Luke Gage, Redcliffe has been supported and developed by MTFestUK, The Other Palace and Bill Kenwright Limited. Further casting to be announced in due course.
Redcliffe will play at the Southwark Playhouse Borough from 22 May - 4 July 2026.
