Jordan Luke Gage's award-winning musical Redcliffe will transfer to the West End next year, playing at the Criterion Theatre for a limited 12 week season.

Set against the backdrop of 18th century England, Redcliffe is inspired by the haunting true story of William Critchard and Richard Arnold. In Redcliffe, Bristol, William, a man from humble beginnings meets Richard, a sailor passing through the town, and the two fall passionately in love. But as suspicions about their relationship grow and society's prejudices threaten to tear them apart, they must decide how much they're willing to risk for the chance to live and love freely.

Redcliffe was first presented at the Turbine Theatre as part of MTFestUK 2024 followed by eight sold out performances of a workshop presentation at The Other Palace. The first full production played at Southwark Playhouse Borough this summer, starring Jordan Luke Gage and Daniel Krikler, where it was praised as “a masterpiece of a musical” (WhatsOnStage) and “charming, funny and devastating” (the Guardian). Jordan (Bonnie & Clyde, Heathers, &Juliet), who won the award for Best Composer, Lyricist or Book Writer at this year's The Stage Debut Awards, will be reprising his role as William Critchard in the West End transfer. He commented, "I’m excited to build on that momentum, challenge perspectives, open hearts and spark meaningful conversations."

Redcliffe is directed by Paul Foster with choreography by Emma Woods, set and lighting design by Andrew Exeter, costume design by Martin Hanly, and musical supervision by Katy Richardson. Further West End casting will be announced soon.

Redcliffe will play at the Criterion Theatre from Thursday 28 January, with a press night on Thursday 4 February.
