We've had our first glimpse of the new production of Alan Ayckbourn's psychological comedy during rehearsals. The production, which premiered at the West End's Vaudeville Theatre in 1986, is set to make an exciting return to the stage from 9 December.

Award-winning stage and screen actress Sheridan Smith stars as Susan alongside the multi-award-winning comedian Romesh Ranganathan in the limited run of Woman in Mind.
Louise Brealey (Harry Potter, HBO) joins them as Muriel, Tim McMullan (Antony and Cleopatra) as Gerald, Sule Rimi (Fat Ham, The RSC) as Andy, Chris Jenks (Anna Karenina, Sheffield Crucible) as Tony, Safia Oakley-Green (The Bluff, Amazon) as Lucy and Taylor Uttley (Leglock, Edinburgh Fringe) as Rick, and Katie Buchholz (If We Were Older, National Theatre) and Michael Woolfitt.
Completing the creative team alongside director Michael Longhurst are set and costume design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting design by Lee Curran, sound design by Paul Arditti and casting by Jim Carnahan CSA and Liz Fraser CSA.
Woman in Mind explores one woman’s fractured reality with heart and humour. When Susan sustains a bump to the head, her world splits in two—one mundane, one imagined—and the lines begin to blur. Ayckbourn’s groundbreaking play is a gripping exploration of identity, family, and mental escape.
It will play until 28 February 2026 at the Duke of York's Theatre.
