Marylebone Theatre, Patrick Myles and David Luff in partnership with Intermission Ensemble have developed a new production of Moliere's classic comedy, which blends razor-sharp comedy, spoken word, music, and beautifully crafted rhyming verse. It is written and directed by Darren Raymond, playwright and Artistic Director of award-winning drama charity Intermission Youth and its graduate arm Intermission Ensemble.

Tartuffe, or The Imposter, or The Hypocrite, first performed in 1664, is the story of Orgon, a wealthy man infatuated with a fraudulent holy man Tartuffe, who poses as pious while exploiting Orgon, attempting to take his property, marry his daughter, and seduce his wife. This production will put a modern spin on this deliciously biting comedy, in which the African-Caribbean Afolabi-Williams family gather for the wedding of Oga Afolabi's daughter. But the arrival of the charismatic man of God Tartuffe, who has won Oga's trust, brings further chaos to an even more turbulent time.

Joining Mark Rylance in the titular role will be Intermission Youth graduates Sara Mokonen (The Jungle, Playground Theatre and West End), Black British Theatre Award nominee Christopher Mbaki (Before I Go, Brixton House) and Morenike Onajobi (Taming Who? Arcola Theatre). The cast also features actors with long-standing ties to Intermission, Nakeba Buchanan, Craig Blake (The Harder They Come, Theatre Royal Stratford East), and Blanche Williams, while award-winning Sierra Leonean storyteller and actor Usifu Jalloh (The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives, Arcola Theatre) joins the lineup.

Tartuffe [Remixed] will have a strictly limited seven week season running from 4 September to 24 October 2026.
