Teri Hatcher will step into the iconic designer shoes from Tuesday 20 October 2026. Vanessa Williams, who has played Miranda since the show opened in December 2024, will have her final performance on 19 September. Debbie Kurup will then briefly step into the role until 17 October.
Hatcher is best known for playing Susan Mayer in Desperate Housewives (in which Williams also starred as fellow housewife Renee Perry) and Lois Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. She made her musical theatre debut as Sally Bowles in the acclaimed national tour of Sam Mendes' groundbreaking revival of Cabaret, and more recently won critical acclaim as Morticia Addams in The Addams Family.
The role of Miranda will be the latest in a long line of formidable women that she's portrayed onscreen and onstage. Hatcher expressed her excitement about joining the cast, saying, "I can't wait to embrace Miranda's sharp wit, fierce ambition, and iconic style, and share her story on a stage with a new audience every night.” She is currently scheduled to perform until 6 February 2027.
Based on the 2006 film starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, The Devil Wears Prada is about aspiring writer Andy Sachs, who takes a job as assistant to the formidable and terrifying Miranda Priestley, editor-in-chief of leading fashion magazine Runway. A complete fish out of water in the cutthroat world of New York fashion, Andy struggles to impress her nightmarish boss and cope with Miranda's increasingly impossible demands at the cost of her relationship and career dreams.
The musical opened in the West End in December 2024 and quickly became the fastest-selling show in the Dominion Theatre's history. The show will also celebrate a major milestone on 23 September 2026, when it reaches its 800th performance.
The cast includes Matt Henry (Kinky Boots, The Drifters Girl) as Runway's flamboyant Creative Fashion Director, Nigel, who will end his run in February 2027, as well as Stevie Doc (winner of ITV’s Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream) as the fish-out-of-water Andy, with Taila Halford (Shucked; School of Rock) as Miranda’s fiery and fashion-forward first assistant Emily, Keelan McAuley (Clueless; Heathers) as Andy’s boyfriend Nate, and Dominic Andersen (Heathers; The Rocky Horror Picture Show) as the devious journalist, Christian.
The Devil Wears Prada also recently announced that it would be extending its run. It is now booking until 25 September 2027.
