The forthcoming production of Noël Coward’s The Rat Trap, which was written back in 1918 when he was just 18, has been reimagined by Bill Rosenfield at the Park Theatre.
Ewan Miller, Angela Sims, Lily Nichol and Ailsa Joy. Headshots provided by production.
Being revived in London for its centenary year in 2026, The Rat Trap is billed as startingly moving, but full of customary sparkling wit and dark humour.
Kirsty Patrick Ward directs the previously announced Ewan Miller (Octopolis, Hampstead Theatre) as Keld Maxwell, Lily Nichol (The Other Boleyn Girl, Chichester Festival Theatre) as Sheila Brandreth, and Angela Sims (The Wizard of Oz, Watermill Theatre) as Burrage. They are joined by Daniel Abbott (Fanny, King's Head Theatre) as Edmund Crowe, Gina Bramhill (Much Ado About Nothing, RSC) as Olive Lloyd-Kennedy, Zoe Goriely (As Long As We Are Breathing, Arcola Theatre) as Ruby Raymond, and Ailsa Joy (Noises Off, UK Tour) as Naomi Frith-Bassington.
The Rat Trap follows Sheila, a talented novelist, and Keld, an aspiring playwright, who embark on married life in 1920s Belgravia. Both are fiercely ambitious people, but when Keld’s career takes off, and Sheila’s doesn’t, professional jealousy and an affair have a devastating effect on their marriage.
Completing the creative team for the run is Set and Costume Designer Libby Watson, Lighting Designer Jamie Platt, Sound Designer and Composer Ed Lewis, Movement Director Ingrid Mackinnon, and Fight Director Claire Llewellyn for Rc-Annie.
The Rat Trap will play at the Park Theatre from 28 January - 14 March 2026.
