The show is based on the BBC mega-hit series, The Traitors, which became the most-watched programme in 2025. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, it takes place in a castle in Scotland, in which a group of faithful contestants fights to win a cash prize while trying to sniff out the secret saboteurs planted in their midst.
The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal is written by John Finnemore and directed by Robert Hastie. It will comprise a cycle of five new plays, with each weekday performance beginning with the same premise before diverging into a different narrative. Characters eliminated early in one version of the story may emerge victorious in another. Each play is a complete work in its own right while also forming part of a larger interconnected cycle.
On Saturday performances, there will be an audience participation element, whereby audiences will determine which character becomes a Traitor, with that choice influencing which version of the story is performed.
The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal will begin previews at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on 11 May 2027, ahead of an opening night on 8 June.
